Designed for movement, built for everyday life.
Merlot believes the deepest connection with our dogs happens when we move together. Through walking and moving, we instinctively exchange something with our dogs — inspiration that flows both ways. That belief is at the heart of everything Merlot makes: to keep moving, keep exploring, and keep finding brilliance in everyday moments.
Rooted in Respect for Dogs
Merlot's designs begin not with aesthetics, but with a dog. Their instincts, behaviours, and physical characteristics are all considered before a single line is drawn. Just as dogs are driven by passion and confidence, every Merlot product is designed to support that same energy. The brand pairs this philosophy with a deep commitment to craftsmanship, collaborating with global R&D centres to research, develop, and bring new ideas to life.
The Care of Nature
Dogs have been humanity's closest companions for thousands of years — descended from wolves, yet still deeply connected to the natural world. Bonding with a dog has been shown to increase serotonin levels in humans, easing stress and restoring emotional balance. Merlot holds that relationship as something worth designing for.
Their guiding design philosophy is drawn from Dieter Rams: good design is in harmony with nature. At Merlot, this takes the form of what they call soft curvature — not an imitation of nature, but design that flows the way nature does: effortlessly and gently. It shapes their Coore™ and Ardor™ collections, where the unnecessary is removed and what remains is quiet, considered, and true.
Stories Behind the Products
Merlot's products carry personal meaning. The Tamna™ Clip takes its name from the ancient name for Jeju Island — the hometown of the co-founder's wife — and draws from the abalone shell relics of that era. At its heart is the story of a life lived alongside the sea.
The 2024 SS Coore™ Collection was conceived during a quiet morning walk after the founder's grandmother passed away. Sunlight on newborn leaves felt like a celebration of life. That feeling was shaped into soft, circular forms until the design felt just right.
And then there is Archie — a stray dog who came into the team's lives one spring, named after Archiwool, the village where they found her. Her arrival deepened something already central to the brand: that radiance doesn't come from a flawless past, but from the courage to keep loving, even after being broken. Merlot's mission — movement — was born from this belief. Not just physical motion, but the power to move hearts and shape a better world with dogs by our side.
Move & Find
The movement at Merlot goes beyond physical action. It's a journey toward something better — where every moment shared with a dog is an opportunity for instinctual connection. Merlot believes in the journey, not the destination.
