Cooling Shampoo

You feel it when you get home. The pavement was warmer than it looked, the walk went longer than planned, and your dog is panting on the tile floor trying to get their belly cool. Under a coat, heat takes far longer to leave than it does for us.

The instinct is a cold rinse. It isn't the answer — cold water cleans poorly, it unsettles the skin's oil and water balance, and a sudden drop in temperature is its own kind of stress. What works better is a normal, comfortable wash that happens to cool as it goes.

That's this. A gel wash that brings the skin temperature down properly during the bath, then leaves moisture behind so the coat doesn't dry out from washing more often in hot weather.

What's doing the work

MDIPA — cooling that isn't menthol. Methyl diisopropyl propionamide is a cooling agent that signals cool to the skin without the sharpness menthol brings. It comes on gently and stays longer, which is what you want on a dog rather than a sudden hit.

Cucumber, worked into the formula rather than the label. Cucumber fruit extract for the skin that's been in the sun, alongside broccoli extract — both bring antioxidant compounds that support skin after a hot, bright day outdoors.

Plant-derived ceramide. The cooling half only works if the skin isn't left dry. Ceramide NP holds moisture in the barrier, so a shampoo you may reach for more often in summer doesn't leave the coat parched.
